Project Compassion 2024:

(Note: Catechists do not collect fundraising money from SRE students – we raise awareness, not money)

This year, Caritas Australia’s theme for Project Compassion is “For All Future Generations.” Inspired by the Bible’s story of the burning bush (Exodus 3:1-20), this theme reminds us that the good we do today will create a lasting impact for generations to come. Available resources for integration into your lessons include::

  • Primary Student Resources: Features a Project Compassion story for each week of Lent with accompanying learning activities on Catholic Social Teaching and Lent.
  • Secondary Student Resources: Offers three Project Compassion stories with activities linked to Lent and Catholic Social Teaching.

Teaching Holy Week Lessons For Catechists (Kindergarten — Year 6)

In Holy week, we remember how much Jesus loved us. The students will learn that Jesus died for us on Good Friday and rose to new life on Easter Sunday. This is taught across the years in an age-appropriate manner. The scope and sequence in your Teacher’s Manual give you some idea of what is taught in each year level. Part of this is reproduced below:
